Our Window Cleaning Approach

Exterior Windows

Our primary means of cleaning exterior windows is by using a water-fed extension pole system. This method sources water directly from your home's spigot, purifying it through a De-Ionizing ("DI") tank. The purified water is then channelled through a hose to a brush head on an extended pole. Our system does not use any chemicals ensuring the runoff is therefore safe for both plants and animals – a feature many of our customers love.

The fundamental approach involves initially scrubbing the window using the brush which also has water flowing out of it. Afterwards, the dirty water is rinsed off by spraying water over the pane, moving from top to bottom, without making any physical contact.

Over the last decade, the water fed pole system has largely replaced the traditional mop and squeegee for external window cleaning. When used properly, the DI pole system offers a safer and more efficient alternative to conventional methods. However, it's worth noting that there are instances where the mop and squeegee approach might be more suitable. This is especially true for older windows that might be prone to leaking or for single-story houses where all windows are easily accessible from the ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I get my windows cleaned?

Improved Appearance: Clean windows look great and can enhance the appearance of your home or business. They can also create a positive first impression for visitors.

Better Visibility: Dirty windows can obscure visibility, making it difficult to see in or out of your property. Regular cleaning can eliminate dirt and grime buildup, improving visibility and allowing more natural light into your space.

Preventive Maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance can help prevent window damage and extend the life of your windows. Professional window cleaners can also identify any issues with your windows, such as loose or broken casings or cracked windows, and recommend prompt repairs.

Improved Air Quality: Dirty windows can harbor allergens and contribute to poor indoor air quality. Professional cleaning can help decrease the allergens in your home or business, leading to improved health and energy levels.

Time-Saving: Cleaning windows can be a time-consuming task, especially for larger properties or multi-story buildings. Hiring a professional window cleaner can free up your time and allow you to focus on other tasks.

How often should I have my windows cleaned?

For residential homes, it is recommended to schedule window cleaning at least twice a year, ideally in the spring and fall. If you live on a busy street or in an area with lots of pollen and trees, you might choose to clean your windows three times a year.

For commercial properties, it is often recommended to clean windows more frequently. For retail spaces and restaurants, the recommended frequency is at least once every month.

The frequency of window cleaning can also depend on various factors such as inclement weather, storms, rock salt, high wind, and remodeling activities. Living close to busy streets, having lots of trees and pollen in the vicinity, and residing in an area with high wind can also contribute to more frequent cleanings

How long does it take to clean my windows?

The time it takes to clean windows varies based on the number, size, and condition of the windows, as well as their accessibility. On average, for a standard home, cleaning all windows inside and out might take 2 to 4 hours. However, specific times can differ, so it’s best to consult directly with the window cleaning service for a precise estimate.

Do I need to remove the screens before you arrive?

No, screen removal and cleaning is always included in our window cleaning service, unless we have agreed otherwise.

Do you clean storm windows?

Unfortunately, we only clean the exterior of storm windows from the outside and the interior from the inside, unless they're removed for us by the homeowner. Given that our technicians often work alone and many storm windows are aged, weighty, and fragile, we don't permit our team to remove them for inside cleaning.

What isn't covered in the window cleaning service you provide?

Our normal service covers standard window cleaning. It does not include:

  • Hard water stain removal
  • Cleaning the inside of skylights or overhead glass
  • Using razors
  • Fixing screens
  • Cleaning up post-construction
  • Acid treatments on windows
  • Removing stickers, glue, paint or construction residue

We do offer some of these services for an additional fee, and for some, you might need to sign a waiver. If you think you'll need any of them, please tell us when we schedule the service. We're here to help! Please also let us know in advance if you have leaky windows or doors, as we can't be held responsible for them once the work starts.

Which areas or locations do you serve for window cleaning?

We provide window cleaning services throughout the Maine/New Hampshire region, covering areas like Rye, Hampton, York, Dover, Kittery and Elliot. Additionally, we cater to residents in Somersworth. If your location isn't mentioned, please reach out. We always aim to accommodate as many areas as possible.

How should I prepare my property before you begin the window cleaning service?

Clear the windowsills and surrounding areas: Remove any objects, plants, or decorations from the windowsills and the immediate vicinity. This will make it easier for us to access the windows and work without any obstructions.

Remove obstacles: Clear away furniture, chairs, or any other items that might be blocking access to the windows, both from the inside and outside of your home. This will make it easier for us to move around and clean effectively.

Secure pets: If you have pets, it's a good idea to secure them in a safe and comfortable area of your home during the window cleaning process. This will prevent any interference or accidents while the cleaners are working.

Provide access: Ensure that the window cleaners have easy access to both the interior and exterior of your home. If there are gates or locked areas, make sure to provide keys or codes as needed.

Communicate special instructions: If there are any specific windows that need extra attention or any unique features about your windows that the cleaners should be aware of, communicate this information beforehand.
